What I Am Reading 2…

This year I am reading The Hunger Games: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, The Godfather by Mario Puzo, and an astronomy book called Before The Big Bang by Brian Clegg. I am in the middle of the novel of Mockingjay. I am starting to wonder at first if Katniss Everdeen will ever survive against The Capitol? Is she going to live or die? Are Katniss and Peeta love interests? Will The Capitol ever be conquered? These are my top concerns. Please don’t spoil it by telling me, because I want to know when I’m finished reading it. The Godfather I already know what happens throughout the novel. I am throughout the middle and reading it the second time. The book Before The Big Bang is about what was there before the big bang started. I am also reading The Shining by Stephen King… and of course writing reference books.

Read Brand New Novels, Not Very Old Ones

What got you thinking of reading the novel “The Grapes of Wrath” right just when you finished graduating high school? No, read new ones! You have the rights of being spoiled in entertainment of novels coming out soon. Don’t read books like Gone With The Wind. Read something like The Hunger Games, The Chronicles of Nick series, or the I Am Number Four… series. Something like that. You can even read horror novels from writers like Stephen King. Look for new things to watch, and new music to listen to. When you’re young in your twenties you need to live a lot. I think it is the best solutions to read new novels, and not very old ones. If you read like Hard Times by Charles Dickens, and you’re a writer, then I’ll say I don’t blame you for it. Discover new authors, and read exciting new novels that might turn into movies in some years. My advice to you all is to enjoy the present, and not the past. This is you era, and you’re not in your parents’ era.

Gone With The Wind (1939)

Gone With The Wind is a film based on Margaret Mitchell’s novel Gone With The Wind. It’s a romantic historical film. It is set in the times of the Civil War. It’s about the romance between Scarlet O’Hara and the confederate sympathizer Rhett Butler. The novel was published in 1936 when it first came out. The novel is told from the perspectives of white southerners. The novel was a success, and so was the movie version. Once the film was finished the director decided to premiere it in New York, but the Atlanta people forced him to do it in Atlanta, Georgia. It took a while to settle it, but the Georgians achieved it. Some few scenes in the film aren’t the ones from the book. The film crew invented several scenes that weren’t in the novel. One famous quote in the novel read from the character Rhett Butler saying, “My dear! I don’t give a damn!” has changed to “Frankly, my dear! I don’t give a damn!” in the film once Rhett departs from the defeated Scarlet O’Hara. The film crew interviewed more than 1,400 women for the part of Scarlet O’Hara. Vivien Leigh got the part of Scarlet O’Hara. Clark Gable got the part of Rhett Butler. This film has won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 1940.

I have seen this movie many times, and loved it. I would love to read the novel also, even though it has too many pages. It still is beautifully written. I have seen the movie in my twenties, and I still love it. When the movie came out in Atlanta, Georgia in 1939 it got great reviews from the fans.

Somewhere in Time (1980)

Somewhere in Time (1980) is a romantic fantasy film. The film adaptation is based on the 1975 novel Bid Time Return written by Richard Matheson. The movie is about Richard Collier, a playwright who becomes obsessed by a photograph of a young woman at the Grand Hotel. Using his self-hypnosis, he travels back in time in 1912 to find love with actress Elise McKenna, but her manager William Fawcett Robinson fears that romance will ruin her career, and resolves to stop it.

I have seen this movie over 20 times, and still love to see it. I think the film is beautifully redacted from the novel. I would recommend anyone who loves romantic films to watch it, if they haven’t seen it. I think reading the novel would be a good idea, too. If it is still available in stores still, which I bet it is. But, reading the book isn’t necessary.

Walter Dean Myers (1937-2014)

Walter Dean Myers was a children’s book author. He was best known for young adult literature. He wrote over a hundred books, which includes: picture books, and nonfiction. His 1988 novel Fallen Angels was one of the most challenged in the U.S., because of its realistic depiction of the Vietnam War. He won the Margaret Edwards Award (1994), and the Michael L. Printz Award (2000). He won the Hans Christian Anderson Award (2010) for his lifetime contribution as a children’s writer. In 2012 he was the Library of Congress Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, which was his 2 year position. On July 1, 2014 he died of a brief illness. Cause of death is yet to be determined. He was 76 years old. R.I.P. Walter Dean Myers

Erasing History Events

I don’t think about erasing history, but it sounds interesting. Some people can be erased from history. You need a time machine to do this in so forth. I think of my history as some positives, and some negatives. Yours is one too, as well. I think that if you can go back in time to grab someone important in that time, and send s/he from another time period. This will prevent important history from happening. Eventually, the history you took from that person will be erased from existence. As if it never happened. I remember the history of World War II so well. Can you kill Adolf Hitler when he is real young in his twenties from preventing another world war? Are you going to get caught? Yes, definitely you will, and be sent to prison. Maybe, you want to erase other important past events. One thing you might do is go through a wormhole, and stop Mario Puzo from writing The Godfather. In fact if he never wrote it, then history will be looked different. There are many things that can be erased from past’s histories. In order to do so, you need to study history, places, and people from its time. Repeat the things from past events to yourself, until you are there. Obviously, you can’t change history, because it is already written. It will affect your lifestyle, if you do. You can go back to ancient times, and prevent the Roman Empire from ruling the world. But, it will take you longer for you to do that. Whichever, time in history you want to erase, there will be challenges that you will fail trying.

An Alien Invasion Has Happened On Planet Earth

Dear Girt,

I can’t believe that most people are being taken hostage in every country and each continents. Each President and each Prime Minister is paying the circumstances from these aliens in spaceships. We can’t do nothing about it. It is out of our hands. We are defenseless against these aliens. They have won, and are taking control of planet Earth. They have named our planet their home, and we are enslaved by them. Soon everything of our freedom, and liberty are going to change. Instead of us humans having it, the aliens will have all the freedom and liberty, as if they deserve it in their point of view. I am in prison in the state of Alabama, and told them to mail you this letter. You remember me, Barbara Triesin? I know you do remember. They were nice enough to letting me mail this letter to you, but their decision is quite clear that I am their slave, as the rest of the others put in jail. I can’t stand this prison of so many criminals who committed heinous crimes, and wish I’d get out of this lunacy. Most innocent people here in prison are thinking the same also. It’s like living with Satan. I am sure you are next to be jailed for no reason. I hope to mother of God they would reconsider us humans as friends, and let us free, but they’ll never do it. We are doomed for eternity, and there’s nothing we can do about it. I am losing hope. I hope you can hide yourself, your family, and your friends somewhere at an island where they won’t find you all. I just hope they won’t trace this letter from your home address, but it’s probably they will do it.

Yours Truly,

Barbara Triesin

Most people have said before that reading is boring, but half of the most people say reading is fun. I know this world isn’t fond of literature, because they would rather watch sports, or movies. And also by doing something else. Reading is part of everything in our lives too. When you pick up a book anywhere it takes you to places you have never been before. I know that sports is the main thing for most people, but it doesn’t hurt to read. You can still like the others things as well. Some books are also to educate your brain, instead most young adults would rather prefer listening to music, and go for music concerts. But, you can do all of those things also along with reading. The literature industry is sometimes a dying industry, because most people don’t really care for it. Novels are great for fun reading. When is the last time you have picked up a book? Did it ever occur to you that by reading a book on a subject you’ll learn new things, and for example you want to be a firefighter or a military general. Think about it. Another thing is that you can know some other things around the world by discovering books on the subjects of events happening today or happened before. Maybe this time you will have time to purchase a book you love to read or pick one up at your near library. But, you have to be specific, by not being clueless about it. Read the newspaper or maybe you have kids that want to learn to read. By doing this you’ll find it amusing, and useful.

On Troubled Writers

There are many writers who where troubled in their lives, and one has come to mention. Have you ever heard of Ernest Hemingway? I bet you have. He’s one of the writers who have gotten troubled. I don’t pay much attention to those, and only would rather read their books. Sometimes when a writer goes into something they aren’t supposed to be in it messes up their lives. The smart writer is the one who goes does their thing and minds their  own business. Truman Capote was into trouble writing a novel called In Cold Blood, and has paid dearly for it. These kinds of problems never go away. He went to the thief’s cell, and started interviewing him. He also started cussing and making fun of famous people while being drunk. He was also a controversial figure. Most writers just write books, and go away from these illegal problems. These writers have had shares of their problems probably on their childhoods. Sometimes they get bad publicity. I think by having a healthy writing lifestyle and healthy life is best. Not every writer lives in comfort, because of their lives having complicated problems. There were still more writers who have had troubled lives, and those I’ve mentioned were a few of them.
