Menahem Golan was an Israeli director, and producer. His best known works were Masters of the Universe, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and Captain America, which were comic book-style movies. Under the pen-name Joseph Goldman, he wrote and “polished” film scripts. He produced around 200 films, and directed 44 films. He died on August 8, 2014. He was 85 years old. R.I.P. Menahem Golan

Judy Garland (1922-1969)
Judy Garland was an American actress, singer, and dancer. Her acting career spanned more than 40 years in musicals, and dramatic roles as an actress. Fred Astaire described her as “The greatest entertainer who ever lived”. Her best known role was as Dorothy in the film, The Wizard of Oz (1939). She also starred in the film, A Star Is Born (1954). She married 5 times, and got divorced 4 times. In her personal life she struggled by film executives, which they constantly manipulated her onscreen physical appearance. She was plagued by financial instability, owing thousands of dollars in taxes. She was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. The American Film Institute placed her among the ten greatest female stars in the history of American cinema in 1999. She had a long battle of drugs and alcohol, that led to her death in June 22, 1969. Her cause of death was “an incautious self-overdose” of barbiturates. She was 47 years old. R.I.P. Judy Garland
James Brady (1940-2014)
James Scott “Jim” Brady was an assistant to the President and White House Secretary under U.S. President Ronald Reagan. He was almost killed, and became disabled, during the result of the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan in 1981. He was a supporter of gun control. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act was named in his honor (formerly known as “The Brady Bill”). He was chair of the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence, known formerly as Handgun Control Inc. He died on August 4, 2014. He was 73 years old. R.I.P. James Brady

Alfredo James “Al” Pacino is an American film actor, stage actor, and director. He is well known for playing mobsters in films. His best known roles include: Michael Corleone in The Godfather films, and Tony Montana in Scarface. He often appeared in films as a police officer, a detective, and lawyer. He won an Academy Award in a role as Frank Slade in the film, “Scent of a Woman”.
James Shigeta (1933-2014)
James Shigeta was an American film, and television actor. He was in the film Walk Like A Dragon (1960). He starred in a 1965 Perry Mason episode, “The Case of the Wrongful Writ”. He was also in a 1968 Hawaii Five-O episode, “Deathwatch”. In 1988 he was in the action adventure film Die Hard. In 1965, he starred in Paradise, Hawaiian Style with Elvis Presley. Steven Bauer is a Cuban-American actor. He is best known as Manny Ribera in the film Scarface (1983). He was married to Melanie Griffith (1982-1987), Ingrid Anderson (1989-1991), and then to Christiana Boney (1992-?, divorced). He was divorced 3 times. He is currently in the Showtime series “Ray Donovan” appearing as ex-Mossad agent turned private investigator “Avi”.
Red Klotz (1920-2014)
Louis Herman “Reds” Klotz was a former point guard who played with the former team Baltimore Bullets. He won the BAA (forerunner of the NBA) championship with the Baltimore Bullets in 1948. He is best known for forming 3 teams, and toured with. They were the Harlem Globetrotters, Washington Generals, and the New York Nationals. He coached the Generals from 1953-1995, which he won only 2 games with, and ended up losing to the Harlem Globetrotters more than 14,000 times. In 1995, he disbanded the Washington Generals, and formed the New York Nationals to take their place. He has lost over 13,000 games with them in his coaching career. He died on July 12, 2014. Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof-Cohen was an English journalist, television presenter, and model. In New York City she worked as a writer for the UK edition of Elle Girl magazine. She previously worked in modeling, and television. She was the second daughter of musician, and Live Aid founder Bob Geldof. She died of a heroin overdose on April 7, 2014. She was 25 years old.
