Elvis Presley (1935-1977)

Elvis Presley was an American singer, and actor. He is referred to as “the King of Rock and Roll”, and one of the most cultural icons of the 20th Century. He began his music career with Sun Records in 1954. Later RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal. His first single, “Heartbreak Hotel” became a no.1 hit in the United States in 1956. In 1968 he was drafted into the military service. Two years later he resumed his music career, which produced some of his successful work. He starred in 1960’s movies. He is one of the best-selling solo artist in the history of music. He won 3 Grammy Awards, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is inducted into multiple music Halls of Fame. He made his film debut in Love Me Tender in November 1956. In 1968 he made a live television special Elvis. He died of prescription drug abuse on August 16, 1977. He was 42 years old.
