I don’t know if you realize how hard that is for some of us. I am one of those who has spent a lifetime travelling and following work opportunities for either my late husband or myself. Now I am retired and live near my children but far from my extended family and far from most friends. Platitudes like yours, while fundamentally true, can nevertheless cut like a knife.
